What are Prediction Markets?
Prediction Markets on Luno are a structured financial tool that allows you to express a view on where a cryptocurrency’s price is headed. You make a prediction on whether the price of a leading asset (like BTC, ETH, SOL, DOGE, or XRP) will be above or below a specific level at a set time. If your insight is correct, you earn payouts in USDC.

How do Prediction Markets differ from Price Predict?
While Price Predict is a free experience used for learning and engagement, Prediction Markets are a formal financial tool. In Prediction Markets, you participate with real value (USDC) and have the potential to earn stable-value payouts in USDC rather than BTC rewards like on Price Predict.
Which assets can I make predictions on?
You can participate in daily markets for major cryptocurrencies, being Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), Dogecoin (DOGE), and Ripple (XRP).
What are the risks?
Capital loss: Trading in short-term prediction markets carries risk. If your prediction is wrong, you will lose all the capital committed to that prediction. Defined but capped risk: While your risk is capped at the amount you choose to participate with, there is no guarantee of a correct outcome. Manual fund transfers: To participate, you must move funds from your USDC wallet to a separate USDC Prediction wallet, ensuring your exposure is limited and intentional. If you don’t own any USDC, you can top up your Prediction Wallet with USDC.
How do payouts work?
Correct predictions are settled in USDC, a US Dollar-pegged stablecoin. This provides a predictable, relatively stable-value outcome rather than a reward subject to crypto market volatility.
Are there costs for moving funds to my Predictions wallet?
No. Moving USDC into and out of your USDC Predictions wallet is free of charge. Luno does not charge any transfer costs for these internal movements.
What are the fees for buying or selling a position?
Prediction Markets on Luno are powered by Limitless, a peer-to-peer decentralised exchange. Limitless uses an adaptive fee structure based on the probability of the outcome: Buying: Fees range from 0.03% to 3%. Generally, the higher the probability of the event, the lower the fee. Selling: Fees start at 0% and can rise to 1.5% as the event probability approaches 50%. You will see an estimated fee before you confirm your transaction, and the final fee is recorded in your USDC Predictions wallet transaction history.
Are there fees for receiving payouts?
Because successful predictions are settled via the blockchain, payouts incur a network fee. This fee is determined by the blockchain protocol based on network congestion at the time of the transfer and is not set by Luno.
How do I claim my payout?
Once a prediction is successful, you can manually claim your payout to initiate the transfer to your wallet. If a payout remains unclaimed for 30 days, it will be automatically sent to your USDC Predictions wallet, minus the applicable network fee at that time.
